About us.
The DJH City-Hostels are part of the German Youth Hostel Association Rhineland e.V.
The German Youth Hostel Association was founded in 1909. Today, it consists of 14 regional associations - one of which is the DJH Landesverband Rheinland e.V., based in Düsseldorf. As a non-profit, registered association, it is a recognised provider of independent youth welfare services.
Of the more than 400 youth hostels in Germany, 32 belong to the Rhineland regional association. These are located in the scenically attractive areas of the Eifel, the Bergisches Land and the Lower Rhine. In addition to modern city hostels in the Rhine metropolises of Cologne and Düsseldorf and charming hostels in former castle complexes, the Rhineland regional association operates numerous hostels with special profiles - from adventure education to industrial culture and circus.
The idea of young people from all over the world coming together in a spirit of peace – that is the very essence of the youth hostel concept. Building on this guiding principle and a tradition stretching back over 100 years, the „Deutsches Jugendherbergswerk“ association, together with its Rhineland regional branch, aims to promote youth welfare and youth education. Furthermore, the association’s key objectives include supporting single parents and families with children, fostering a sense of belonging to one’s homeland, and protecting the environment and the countryside.
